The design
Navy Script places pale cherry blossom outlines and cool blue-gray leaves against a deep navy field. The light flowers give the dark palette definition, while the softly colored foliage keeps the illustration connected to its blue background. A wide open center separates the two areas of botanical detail.
The main branch sweeps from the lower left across the lower portion of the mat, carrying open blooms, small buds, and finely drawn leaves. A shorter sprig in the upper right repeats that rhythm on a smaller scale.
Part of the Sakura Script Series: nine colorways of one cherry blossom composition.
